These Western Union Rewards Terms and Conditions supersede all previous versions and document copies containing such terms and conditions and apply from December 1 2025 onwards.
Important Information for Participants in the Western Union Rewards Program
These terms and conditions constitute the agreement between you and us (the Agreement) with respect to your participation in the Western Union Rewards Program (the “Program”). The Program allows you to store your personal data for use on future money transfer transactions, earn loyalty rewards , and use other services listed at the Program portal. These terms and conditions may change from time to time by us giving notice to you.
When you enroll on the Program portal , the Western Union® app or via a participating agent location, you are agreeing to this Agreement. Additional terms and conditions may apply to the Program depending on your preferences. If you access third party services offered in the Program, additional third-party provider terms and conditions may apply. Details and any additional terms and conditions to such services shall be provided at various points in the Program portal.
The operator of the Program, as well as any location-specific terms that may amend or supplement this Agreement, are outlined in Annex A, if applicable. Please refer to Annex A for details relevant to your location.
You should read this Agreement and keep a copy for your records.
- Enrolling in Rewards. To access the Program, you must be at least 18 years old and resident in a Program country. The Program countries list can be found in Annex B here. You are permitted to enroll only once, and you must provide your full name, residential address, and any other information we may reasonably request. We may refuse to accept your enrollment if you do not satisfy our enrollment criteria (e.g., if you are not resident in the country where we provide the Program). You do not have to be a user of any other Western Union product or service to enroll in the Program. Commercial use is prohibited, and we may restrict access or cancel your enrollment at any time at our discretion in case of any misuse.
- Your Rewards Account. If we accept your enrollment, we will set up an online account for you (the Account), which shall allow you to use the Program services. You can view your Rewards Account balance and your qualifying transaction history at any time by logging on at into the Program Portal . We will also provide you with a personalized account number (Number), which lets you earn points on qualifying Western Union® money transfers. You can only have one Rewards Account at a time. Your Rewards Account and Number is personal to you, and you are responsible for keeping your details (including your security credentials) safe. If you choose, or you are provided with, a user identification code, password, or any other piece of information as part of our security procedures (Security Details), you must treat such information as confidential. You must not disclose it to any third party. We have the right to disable any Security Detail, whether chosen by you or allocated by us, at any time, if in our reasonable opinion you have failed to comply with any of the provisions of this Agreement. If you know or suspect that anyone other than you, knows your user identification code or password, you must promptly notify us.
- The Program. Enrollment in the Program provides you with the following benefits:
- Rewards: You can earn reward points (Points) for each successful qualifying Transfer you complete using your Number. A Transfer shall qualify for Points under the Program if it is made via the applicable method available in your Program country. You can view your current Points balance, available rewards and benefits, and the minimum number of Points required to redeem them by logging into your Rewards Account. You may redeem your Points to obtain discounts on your transaction fee(s) for a next qualifying Transfer or other redemption offers that may be introduced from time to time.
- Deals: Depending on your country, the Program may offer exclusive deals, such as discounts, free shipping, free items or coupons for third-party merchants (“Deals”). We reserve the right to change available third-party merchants or revoke the availability of Deals at our sole discretion, without notice. Some Deals may be used multiple times, while others are for single use only, depending on the merchant. More details about each Deal, including expiration dates, will be available in the Rewards portal.
LOYALTY POINTS
- Earning Points for Transfers. You can earn Points only on Transfers where the money has been received by the recipient and has not been returned or refunded in whole or in part. If you made a successful Transfer but did not receive Points in your Account for the Transfer, please contact us as set forth in the Contact Us section at Rewards portal. We may refuse to issue Points if we cannot verify the transaction.
- Redeeming your Points. You may redeem your Points when performing a Money Transfer at westernunion.com, in the Western Union mobile app, at an agent location, where available, or by any other method applicable at the time of redemption in your Program country. If you redeem your Points, we shall apply the discount only to our transaction fee(s) for your next qualifying Transfer in the Program country. Redeemed points cannot be used again. If a transaction on which Points are issued or redeemed is cancelled, reversed or not completed, we will reverse the associated Points awarded or redeemed.
- Important Information about your Points. Points earned expire 24 months after completion of the qualifying Transfer or earlier if you or we terminate this Agreement (and close your Rewards Account). Points will not earn interest and are not insured against loss. Points cannot be purchased, sold, combined or transferred in any way.
GENERAL
- Data Protection. In order to provide and perform the Program, we need to collect and process your personal data. The manner in which we collect, process, and share personal data set forth in the Western Union’s Global Privacy Statement, which is available at on https://www.westernunion.com/ca/en/rewards/home.html and updated from time to time.
- Limitation of Liability. WESTERN UNION SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY USE OF THIS PROGRAM THAT DOES NOT COMPLY WITH THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS. WESTERN UNION SHALL NOT BE LIABLE IF THIS PROGRAM IS INTERFERED WITH IN ANY WAY OR IS NOT CAPABLE OF BEING CONDUCTED AS REASONABLY ANTICIPATED DUE TO ANY REASON BEYOND THE REASONABLE CONTROL OF THE WESTERN UNION, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES OR FAILURES, UNAUTHORIZED INTERVENTION OR FRAUD, VANDALISM, POWER FAILURE, NATURAL DISASTERS, ACTS OF GOD, CIVIL UNREST, STRIKES, INFECTION BY COMPUTER VIRUS, BUGS, TAMPERING, UNAUTHORIZED INTERVENTION, FRAUD, OR ANY OTHER CAUSES BEYOND THE CONTROL OF WESTERN UNION, WHICH CORRUPT OR AFFECT THE ADMINISTRATION, SECURITY, FAIRNESS OR INTEGRITY OR PROPER CONDUCT OF THIS PROGRAM. WESTERN UNION WILL IN NO CASE BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING (BUT NOT LIMITED TO) DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE OR NON-MATERIAL LOSSES.
THE FORESEEABLE LOSS OR DAMAGE THAT COULD BE CAUSED BY US IS EQUIVALENT TO THE THEN-CURRENT MONETARY VALUE OF ONE (1) REWARD. YOU RECOGNIZE AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS LIMITATION OF LOSS OR DAMAGES IS FAIR AND REASONABLE. - Contacting Western Union. - Communications. When you enroll in the Program, you are also agreeing to receive from time to time by e-mail and targeted or personalized messaging (e.g. on social media and other digital channels) news, offers, services, promotions and other communications concerning Western Union and/or other companies with which Western Union has a relationship. You may opt out of these communications at any time by unsubscribin
- Third-Party Merchant Terms and Liability. We may facilitate access to goods and services offered by third-party merchants (“Deals”) through the Rewards portal ; however, please note that we are not the supplier of these goods or services. When you use the Rewards portal to access a third-party merchant’s site, you will be leaving the Western Union site, and any interactions on the third-party site will be subject to that site’s terms and privacy notice. In addition, when using the Reward portal to access Deals , you enter a direct contract with the third-party merchant, not with Western Union. Deals may not be available in all countries and are subject to the specific terms and conditions of the third-party merchant, which can be found on the merchant’s website or by contacting them directly. The value and terms of Deals may vary by merchant, and certain exclusions may apply as outlined in the offer terms and on the relevant Deal page. Any goods or services purchased through the Rewards portal are governed by the merchant’s return, exchange, and shipping policies, so it’s important to review these terms carefully. The redemption of discounts is ultimately subject to the merchant or their tracking agency’s approval. While we strive to provide access to Deals, we do not guarantee the availability or validity of any specific Deal. We are not responsible for any losses related to the safety, quality, or delivery of goods and services purchased through the Rewards portal , and any issues must be resolved directly with the third-party merchant.
- Complaints. We hope you are satisfied with the Program, but if you wish to complain you can contact us as set forth in the Contact Us section at Rewards portal.
- Dormancy. If you do not use your Number for a period of one year, we may suspend your participation in the Program.
- Assignment. You may not transfer any of your rights or obligations under this Agreement.
- Law Applying to this Agreement. This Agreement shall be concluded and interpreted in the English language. If this Agreement is translated into another language, it is for reference purposes only. The law of the country in which the Program is operated will decide any legal questions about this Agreement, and about our dealings with a view to entering into this Agreement. The courts of the country in which the Program is operated will also be able to deal with any legal questions connected with this Agreement.
- Severability. If any part of this Agreement is disallowed or found not to be effective by a court or regulator, the remainder of it will continue to apply.
- Changes. We can make changes to this Agreement for any of the following reasons: (a) because of a change in law; (b) if the change benefits you, for example when introducing new Program functionality; (c) in response to possible risks to the security of your Rewards Account; or (d) reasonable and proportionate changes for any other reason we cannot foresee, for example to respond to changes in our industry that affect how we wish to deliver our services to you. You may be notified of changes by e-mail, SMS or within your Rewards Account; we may also notify you of changes by posting them on https://www.westernunion.com/ca/en/rewards/home.html . You can tell us you do not accept any changes by contacting us as set forth in the Contact Us section at Rewards portal but this will end the Agreement. If you do not object to the change and continue to use the Services, we will take that as your acceptance of the change.
- Termination. This Agreement will continue until you or we end it. You may end this Agreement, including closing your Rewards Account, at any time by a method described in your Rewards Account. If you do this, your participation in the Program will terminate within thirty (30) days after we receive your request. We can end this Agreement, including closing your Rewards Account, for any reason by giving notice to you. We can also end this Agreement (and close your Rewards Account) more quickly if required to do so by law, or if you have violated the rights or infringed upon a legitimate interest of a third-party.
- These Terms. To the extent you are a customer of the Western Union money transfer services, and in the event of a conflict between the terms of this Agreement and any other terms, the terms of this Agreement shall govern solely with respect to your use of Rewards to the extent of the conflict.
