How can I send money to Japan online?
  1. Register for a Western Union profile or log in.
  2. Click ‘Send now’ and select Japan as the country you want to transfer to.
  3. Enter the transfer amount and then select a payment method – either debit/credit3 card, bank account or cash.
  4. Either select a receiver’s saved details or enter their personal and account information. You’ll also need to provide their BIC, the purpose of your transaction and proof of funds.
  5. Confirm and pay for your money transfer.
  6. You’ll receive a unique tracking number (MTCN), which you and your receiver can use to track the funds in real time.
Can I send cash to Japan?

You can send cash to Japan from any one of our agent locations. All you need to do is:

  1. Find your local Western Union agent location.
  2. Head to the desk and provide them with the following:
  • Government-issued ID – for example, a driver’s license or passport
  • Yours and your receiver’s personal information and account details
  • Your receiver’s BIC code
  • The purpose of your transaction
  • Proof of funds – this could be in the form of a bank statement or payslip.
  1. Pay for your money transfer to Japan with your debit or credit3 card, or with cash.
  2. Once you’ve checked out, you’ll receive a receipt with your unique tracking number (MTCN), which you can use to track your money.
