How to Provide Your Identification

If we haven’t been able to verify the information in your profile, we’ll send you an email asking you to provide proof of your identity and address before you can send money online with us again. The email will include these instructions: 

STEP 1: Copy or scan photo ID

Copy or scan the front and back of your photo ID.* Make sure your picture, signature, birthdate, and expiration date are visible. Passports and driving licenses (photocard version only) are acceptable.

STEP 2: Copy or scan proof-of-address document

Your name and address need to be visible. All below documents are accepted as online documents retrieved in .pdf format.

Proof of address (not older than 3 months):

- Utility bill
- Credit card statement
- Bank statement

STEP 3: Return documents to Western Union

Copies by mail: Send copies of your ID and proof of address to: Western Union Schubertring 11, 1010 Vienna, Austria   Scan by email: Attach your scans (as PDFs or JPGs) to an email addressed to id@westernunion.com 

STEP 4: Check ID status

Log in to your profile to check your status. We will email you, when verification is complete. In the meantime, you can send money by visiting a nearby agent location.

* Please send us a COPY of your identification, not the original. Keep the original in a safe place.
