    How do I send money online to India?

    Just follow these easy steps to start transferring money to India:

    1. Log in or register for a free profile. To begin sending money, click ‘Send now’.
    2. Choose India as your destination and the amount you want to send. You’ll then be given information on typical UK-India transaction times.
    3. Click ‘Bank account’ to send money to a friend or family member’s current account. Then enter their account details. If you’ve sent them money in the past, select their existing account information.
    4. Pay with your credit or debit card3 to officially send your money to India.
    5. Share the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) we email you with your recipient so you can both track the money.
    What information do I need from my receiver to send money online to India from the UK?

    To send money to India, you’ll need your receiver’s account number, or Unified Payments Interface ID (UPI ID) and details of the purpose of the transaction.

    How much money can I send to India from the UK?

    You can send up to £799.99 from the UK and its territories to India without any additional ID verification. If you’d like to transfer more money to India, we’ll need to confirm your identity online. Once we’ve verified your ID, you’ll be able to send up to £50,000 to friends and family using bank transfer to bank account pay-outs. Bank transfer is available to UK residents only. Additional limits may apply.

    How do I send money to India from a Western Union location?

    Sending money to India from the UK in person is easy at a Western Union location. Here’s how:

    2. Give a valid government-issued ID or phone number in at the counter, plus the bank and account details of your recipient. Before transferring money to India, you may need to provide proof regarding your source of funds. To help with this, please ensure you also take a bank statement, tax return or payslip along with you.
    3. Pay for your money transfer to India using a debit or credit card3, or cash.
    4. Keep track of your transfer using the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) on your receipt.
    How long will it take for the money to get to India?

    Your receiver may get access to the money in just a few minutes5 for cash pickup. It all depends on how you choose to send money to India. For some transfers, it can take up to one bank day.
