What is the difference between commercial dollar and tourism dollar?

Trade DollarThe value of the trade dollar is used to set market rates. The currency is used to pay or receive funds from imports and exports of goods and services from Brazil to the world.

Tourism DollarTourism dollar is the physical currency, traded in exchange houses and exchange correspondents. The tourism dollar is more expensive than the commercial dollar, as it incorporates some costs, such as taxes, importation of paper money, administrative costs, logistics, among others. How does the calculation of the final dollar quotation for purchase work?

The final quotation presented to the customer at the Western Union store consists of:Tourism exchange price + IOF.

How to buy foreign currency on Western Union?

You can buy foreign currency over the phone or at one of the many Western Union stores throughout Brazil. Check it out:

What documents are required to exchange currencies?

For Brazilians residing in Brazil:
Identity Card (RG) and CPF or CNH.
Professional document (CREA, OAB, CRM, etc.).

For foreigners residing in Brazil:
National Registry of Foreigners (RNE) and (CPF).

For Mercosur foreigners:
Identification document of your country equivalent to (RG).

For foreigners passing through the country:
Passport.

For Brazilians living abroad:
Identity Card (RG) and (CPF).

For Brazilians with dual nationality:
The documentation for Brazilians residing in Brazil remains.

What is the minimum age to buy and sell foreign currency?

18 years old.

Can someone else (spouse, parents, grandparents, uncles or friends) pay for my transaction?

For amounts greater than R$ 10,000, payments must be made via DOC/TED or PIX from the same holder of the operation, and deposits or payments directly at bank branches are not accepted.

What forms of payment are accepted in Western Union stores?

In the purchase of foreign currencies, transactions of less than BRL 10,000 can be paid with cash, and/or bank transfer (DOC/TED or PIX) from the account of the holder of the boleto. For amounts greater than R$ 10,000, payment in cash is not allowed.

What are the payment methods for purchase via phone?

Regardless of the amount, operations must be paid via bank transfer (DOC/TED or PIX) from the account of the boleto holder.

In case of payments via bank, what is the deadline for payment confirmation?

PIX: 30 minutes
TED: 2 hours after sending the receipt by email.
DOC: Maximum deadline 2 working days
