How do I send money with the Western Union® mobile app?

Download the app

It’s free to download the Western Union® app. Head to the Apple App Store on any iOS device or get the app on Google Play for Android devices.

Register or log in

Log in to the app using Touch ID or your credentials. New users can also register and create a profile for free today.

Easily view fees and exchange rates1

Check transfer fees and exchange rates for more than 200 countries and territories instantly on our money transfer app. Estimate the cost of your transfer, so there’s no unwanted surprises.

Set up your payment

Use our simple card scanning technology to set up your chosen payment method. Scan your credit3 or debit card with the camera on your compatible device, so you’re ready to pay for your transfer on the app.

Send money

Select the destination country and amount of money you want to send. You’ll then be asked to choose a pay-out method that works best for you – such as a bank transfer, cash pickup or mobile wallet4. Enter your receiver’s details and complete your payment via the app or at a nearby agent location.

Track your transfer

Once your payment has gone through, you’ll receive a unique tracking number (MTCN) for the transfer. Share this with your receiver so they can also keep track of the funds.

How do I get the Western Union® app?

You can download our money transfer app from the Apple App Store for iOS or Google Play for Android devices.

How do I upgrade to Western Union Digital Banking app?

Simply download Western Union Digital Banking app, follow the instructions on the screen, and have your photo ID Card/Passport and your tax information at hand. To open a Western Union Digital Banking account, you need to be over 18 years old and currently reside in the country where Western Union Digital Banking is available.

If you already have Western Union account, download the new app, use your existing username (email) & password and follow the instructions on the screen. Your westernunion.com account will become inactive once you become a Western Union Digital Banking customer and will remain so as long as you are a Western Union Digital Banking customer.

Can I make a bank-to-bank money transfer with the Western Union® app?

Yes, after downloading our app and registering for free, simply enter the money transfer details, and choose ‘Send to a bank account’ as the receiving option. Finally, select ‘Bank transfer’ as payment method.

Can I send money with the Western Union® app and pay by credit card2?

Yes, after downloading our app and registering for free, enter the money transfer details and select your receiving option. When selecting your payment method, you will have to option to pay by credit card2.

Can I start a money transfer in the Western Union® app and pay in person?

Yes, you can save time at the counter by starting your money transfer on the Western Union® app or online and paying in cash at a participating agent location. When you begin a money transfer on the app, you will be provided the option to pay in cash at an agent location.

How much money can I transfer with the Western Union® app?

If you want to transfer more than 1.000 €, we will need to ask you to confirm your identity. As ƒsoon as you have done this, your money transfer limit will automatically be increased to 5.000 €. For several countries, your limit may be increased to up to 50.000 €. The maximum money transfer limit available to you is displayed as soon as you select the receiver country in the ‘Send money’ section.

Confirming your identity is a quick and simple process. You can do so by uploading a government-issued Identity card (only available for Sofort and Bank to bank transfers), by video chat or by using the PostIdent service available at Deutsche Post.
