Sending money with the Western Union®  App

 

Sending money should be as easy as checking email or browsing the Internet.

With the WU® application, you can send money 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The receiver can collect the money in cash at any of our agencies. In certain countries, the money can be deposited in a bank account.

 

Our app provides the following options:

With the Western Union® App, send cash

Did you know you can start your money transfer from the App and complete it by paying cash at an agent location?

Steps to send cash with the application

Download the latest Western Union app.

  1. Log in. If you don't have a profile, register for free.
  2. Load your money transfer information:
    • Destination
    • Amount to Send
    • Payout option (cash payment or bank account deposit)
  3. In the "How will you pay" section, select "Pay cash".
  4. Complete the form with your personal information along with those of your receiver. After this, you will receive an email confirmation. Once you have received the confirmation, you will have 72 hours to make the payment at a participating agent and complete your money transfer.
  5. Search for a Western Union agent location to pay in cash. Bring your photo identification, the money in cash, and your cell phone number. Once paid, you will receive a confirmation SMS.

Keep in mind that the receiver will need to show his or her identification and the tracking number (MTCN) to collect the money.

 

*Discount based on the standard fee for a money transfer initiated at an agent location versus one initiated on the Western Union mobile app.

With the Western Union® App, send money from your bank account

Sending money from your bank account* with the Western Union® App is very easy. Select the service that best fits you and follow the steps described below to learn how to do it.

  • Do you need the money to reach the destination in minutes¹? Follow the instructions in the section "Send money from the App for cash payout".
  • Do you need the money to be deposited directly into the recipient's bank account? Follow the instructions in the section "Send money from the App to a bank account".

 

*You may send money using this option only when you have completed at least one transaction using the ”pay with cash" option.

Send money from the App for cash payout

  1. Log in. If you don't have a profile, register for free.
  2. Select the destination country, the sending amount, and the "cash payout” option.
  3. In the "How will you pay" section, select "bank transfer"². Ensure that the name of your bank account matches the name that appears on your user profile; if not, your transfer will be rejected.
  4. Complete the form with your personal information and that of your receiver.
  5. Enter your bank account information (Bank name / CBU / CUIL).
  6. Review the information for the operation. Select the "Send" option.
  7. Visit your bank's website and complete a bank transfer to the bank account specified in the Western Union app for the total amount, including applicable fees.
  8. Your money will be available to payout in cash as soon as we receive the transfer payment. We will send the confirmation to you at the email address that appears on your profile.

Keep in mind that the recipient will need to show his or her identification and the tracking number (MTCN) to collect the money.

 

Send money from the App to a bank account

  1. Log in. If you don't have a profile, register for free.
  2. Select the destination country, the sending amount, and the "payout a bank account” option.
  3. In the "How will you pay" section, select "bank transfer"². Ensure that the name of your bank account matches the name that appears on your user profile.
  4. Complete the form with your personal information and that of your receiver, including their bank account information³.
  5. Enter your bank account information (Bank name / CBU / CUIL).
  6. Review the information for the operation. Select the "Send" option.
  7. Visit your bank's website and complete a bank transfer to the bank account specified in the Western Union app for the total amount, including applicable fees.
  8. Your money will be deposited in your receiver's bank account between 1 and 3 business days (depending on the bank) after we receive the transfer payment. We will send the confirmation to you at the email address that appears on your profile.

 

²Some banks will charge a fee for national or international bank transfers. Check with your bank.

³Be careful when providing the recipient's bank account information. The money will be deposited into the bank account that corresponds to the account number you indicate. Remember the following: the recipient's payment account must be a charge account in the local currency of the destination country.
