Restrictions and special notes


Money transfers from Mexico:

  • Senders must submit official, unexpired identification to complete the validation process.
  • In Mexico, a certificate indicating the loss of your ID will not validate you for making a money transfer.
  • A maximum of US $7,499 (US dollars or its equivalent in local currency) can be transferred per person per transaction or per day. The maximum transfer amount may vary according to the agent and the district.
  • Payments must be made in cash and in the equivalent of the local currency (Mexican pesos). Money transfers using credit and/or debit cards must be made using the WU® app.
  • Some transfers may require further information to fulfill compliance regulations.
  • It is essential to provide the correct contact telephone numbers.

Receiving money in Mexico:

  • The receiver must submit official, unexpired identification to complete the validation process.
  • In Mexico, a certificate indicating the loss of your ID will not validate you for receiving the money.
  • A maximum of $7,499 USD (US dollars or its equivalent in local currency) can be received per person per transaction or per day. The maximum amount of money paid out may vary according to the agent and the district.
  • The beneficiary must submit the correct Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN).

  • The option of a security question is not available in Mexico.
  • Money transfers to Mexico must include the name of the city and the state in which they will be collected.
