Anyone who needs to support friends or family abroad, or travelers who need to send money from a foreign country can use Western Union services. You can send money around the world to more than 200 countries and territories.

Western Union agents are our representatives in the different countries you need to send or receive money. Western Union Agent locations are independent businesses that provide money transfer services to their customers on behalf of Western Union. They may be banks, post offices, supermarkets, grocery stores, check cashiers, mailbox centers, drug stores, travel agencies, depots, airports, train and bus stations, currency exchange offices and other retailers. In Chile you have Chilexpress, CIS Express Multiservicio and Independent agents.

Once you get to our agent location, you will be asked to provide some information like your receiver’s first name, last name, the amount you wish to send, the country you are sending to and a valid government-issued ID. Then just give the agent the total amount including the applicable fees. You can send cash for being paid in cash or into a bank account.

USD7,500 due to internal rules for transactions which amount is equal or greater than USD5,000 you will need to upload your ID.

Money transfers can be paid in cash or will be transferred directly to the receiver’s bank account if the option is available for the receiver country.

You can check your transfer status online. All you need is the sender’s name and the tracking number (MTCN) printed on the sender’s receipt.

Each Western Union agent location has its own working hours. Most have weekends service and some extended hours.

You can use any of the following documents to send money in Chile:

• Your national ID (RUT)
• Your Mercosur ID of any of the following bordering countries: Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru, Colombia, Bolivia or Ecuador
• Your Chilean passport

Please note that acceptable IDs are subject to Chile’s banking laws and regulations. 

Once you get to a Western Union or partner agent location, provide information such as your receiver’s first name and last name, the receiving country, the amount you wish to send and a valid government-issued ID. Alternatively, you can start a transfer online from our mobile app and go to an agent location to pay for it in cash.

You can pay for your transfer with cash and choose cash pickup or bank account as the delivery method. You’ll have to pay the agent the total amount including the applicable fees.

You can send up to 7500 USD (or its equivalent in CLP) from any of our agent locations in Chile. However, you’ll need to verify your identity if you wish to send more than 1000 USD (or its equivalent in CLP) in a single transfer.

In case you want to send abroad an amount in the range of 1000 USD to 7500 USD (or its equivalent in CLP), you’ll need to verify your identity at an agent location with a valid ID.

In case you want to send an international transfer between 1 USD and 999 USD (or its equivalent in CLP), you’ll need to verify your identity in the Western Union® app.
