What documents can I use to pick up money in Chile?

If you need to pick up money at a Western Union agent location, please present a valid version of your National ID (RUT), or Mercosur ID or Passport.
Acceptable IDs are subject to the banking laws and regulations of Chile.

How do I know if my money transfer has been received?

You can track a transfer at our website. Type in the sender’s name and the tracking number (MTCN) and you’ll get an update on the latest status of your money transfer.

How do I pick up a money transfer?

You can pick up the money at any Western Union agent location. You’ll need to provide the following information:

  • A valid National ID, Mercosur ID or Passport
  • The sender’s full name
  • The country where the money was sent from
  • The approximate amount that was sent
  • The tracking number (MTCN)

How does a Western Union® agent pay out money transfers?

Money transfers will generally be paid in cash.

How much does it cost to receive money?

There is no cost to receive money, all fees are paid by the sender.

What documents will I need to pick up money in Chile?

To pick up money at a Western Union agent location in Chile, please bring any of the following documents:

  • Your national ID (RUT)
  • Your Mercosur ID of any of the following bordering countries: Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru, Colombia, Bolivia or Ecuador
  • Your Chilean passport

Please note that acceptable IDs are subject to Chile’s banking laws and regulations. 

Does my receiver need to register themselves?

No, your receiver can receive money via Western Union without registering. The transfer receipt will have more details on how your receiver can get their money.

However, if they are in Colombia, Argentina, China or Jamaica and the delivery method is bank account, they may need to complete a one-time registration. We’ll inform your receiver about this requirement within 24 hours from the start of the transfer.

Can I change the pickup location of my money transfer?

Depending on your receiver’s country, you can request a change in the pickup location.

How are money transfers delivered to receivers?

Money transfers are paid in cash or transferred directly to the receiver’s bank account, mobile wallet or debit card. However, bank accounts are a delivery method available only for some countries.

  • The tracking number (MTCN)
  • Their valid National ID (RUT), Mercosur ID or passport.
  • The sender’s full name
  • The receiving country
  • The approximate amount that was sent

How do I know if my money transfer has been received or picked up?

 

To check your transfer status, go to Track a transfer and enter your 10-digit tracking number (MTCN).

Don’t have your MTCN? You can still know your transfer status using these easy steps:

  1. Go to Track a transfer and select Track a transfer without MTCN.
  2. Choose if you’re the sender or the receiver.
  3. Enter the sender’s phone number or the sender’s and receiver’s names.
  4. Choose the receiving country and enter the approximate amount sent.
  5. Enter the date of money transfer if you know it and select Track it.

What do I need to pick up my money transfer?

  You can pick up your transfer from any of our agent locations. You just need to provide the following:

  • Tracking number (MTCN)
  • Sender’s and receiver’s full names
  • Expected amount
  • Your government-issued photo ID
  • Sender’s country and state/city/province

How can my receiver get the money?

1. Cash pickup at an agent location

Your receiver can pick up the money at any nearby Western Union location. They need to complete the To Receive Money Form (TRMF) and provide their government-issued photo ID4, along with the following information:

  • Tracking number (MTCN)
  • Sender’s complete name
  • Sender’s country state/city/province
  • Expected amount

2. Bank transfer

The money is sent to the receiver’s bank account you provided when you sent the transfer.

3. Mobile wallet

The money is sent to your receiver’s mobile wallet. Your receiver can visit their mobile network operator to receive the cash.

Note: You must be at least 18 years old to send or receive money with Western Union.
