    How much money can I send to the US?

    If you’re sending money to the US for cash pickup, you can send up to €5000. If you’re sending money directly to a US bank account, you can send up to €4000.

    How do I transfer money to the US online?
    1. Create a profile or log in to your Western Union account and click “Continue.”
    2. Select “United States” in the “Send to” box and enter the amount you would like to send in the relevant box.
    3. Once you’ve entered the desired amount, you’ll be asked to choose how the receiver will get the money — in their bank account or to be picked up in cash.
    4. For the next step, select a payment method. You should now be able to see a comprehensive quote.
    5. Click “Continue” to go to the next page and fill out both your own and the receiver’s details. You will also be asked to indicate the reason for the transfer and the source of the funds.
    6. Once you’ve confirmed the transaction, you’ll receive a unique MTCN (money transfer control number) to track the progress of your transfer. You can share this number with your receiver.

    Sending money to the US online is really easy — just make sure you have the following to hand:

    • Your receiver’s name and email address.
    • The reason for the transfer.
    • Proof of the source of your funds.
    How do I send money to the US from a Western Union agent location?

    To make a money transfer to the US in person, follow these steps:

    • Find an agent location near you.
    • Bring a state-issued ID, driver’s license or passport so that we can verify your identity.
    • Also, make sure to have a bank statement, a tax return or a paycheck with you, in case we ask you for proof of the source of the funds.
    • You will also need your receiver’s contact information and a valid payment method.
    • You will receive an unique MTCN (money transfer control number) that you can use to track the progress of your transfer.
    How do I work out the transfer fees for sending money to the US?
