Message from the Western Union Foundation Chairman and President
We take great pride in unveiling the 2006 Annual Report for the Western Union Foundation. In partnership with our employees, Western Union Agents and nongovernmental/nonprofit organizations, this past year has demonstrated the power of our collaborative giving with a renewed vision.
In this year’s report you will read about lives being transformed, dreams being realized and empowered communities. The generosity of Western Union employees, Agents and vendors who have given precious time and funding year-round, has created hope and opportunity in nearly every corner of the globe.
Since 2000, the Foundation has awarded over $40 million in grants to nonprofit organizations that provide critical disaster relief, education and basic human services to over 1,500 nongovernmental organizations. Our greatest asset comes from exercising our global capabilities to improve the quality of life for individuals, families and entire communities.
We hope you will enjoy reading about the scholarships to students who have overcome significant obstacles, relief to those recovering from disasters and grants to help people in need. The strength of our partnerships has allowed the Western Union Foundation to create pathways of opportunity and foster hope for many people around the globe.
Thank you for a year of enduring progress. We have unprecedented opportunities to create lasting social impact throughout the global community. The Western Union Foundation is immensely proud to actively heed these calls.
