FAQ Online Identification Process Western Union FR


We’ll need to verify your identity when you send more than 1000 EUR per transfer.

Once your profile is verified, you’ll be able to send up to 5000 EUR per transfer. For bank to bank transfers, you’ll be able to send up to 50000 EUR per transfer depending on the selected send country and funding method. Bank transfer is available only for residents of France. Additional limits may apply.

You can verify your identity through the following methods:

Updating your profile information online

  1. Log in to your profile and initiate a transfer of more than 1000 EUR to start the ID verification process. If you don’t have a profile yet, create one on westernunion.com or the mobile app.
  2. After you’ve logged in to your profile, choose Start verification.
  3. Enter your personal details.
  4. Upload a copy of any one of the following photo IDs as PDFs or JPGs:
    • Passport (classic and diplomatic)
    • EU/EEA national ID card (front and back)
    • FR residence permit (front and back)
    • France travel document for foreigners - Titre de voyage (front and back)

  5. As a proof of address, you’ll need to send us a copy of your electricity bill/gas bill/phone bill/bank or credit card statement.
  6. The verification process may take a few hours. After your identity is verified, you’ll receive a confirmation email.

Please make sure your documents are valid and clear and easy to read. Your information must match your Western Union profile and your signature on ID document or signature page (if applicable) must be visible.

The proof of address you provide must be less than 90 days old and must contain your full name as they appear on your ID and your Western Union profile, your home address as indicated in your Western Union online profile, and the company’s name and logo.

Verification for La Banque Postale customers:

  1. If you have a La Banque Postal account, simply log in and choose Western Union and international transfers option.
  2. If you already have a WU profile, you’ll be prompted to log in with you WU credentials and in case if you don’t have a WU profile you’ll be asked to register.
  3. Make sure your personal details are correct.
  4. Initiate a transfer to start the ID verification process.
  5. Provide your non-expired ID details and upload your photo ID in PDF or JPG format.
    • EU Passport (classic and diplomatic)
    • EU/EEA National ID Card (front and back)
    • FR Residence/Work Permit (front and back)
    • Travel document for foreigners (Titre de voyage)
  6. Confirm all personal information displayed on screen is accurate prior to submitting verification request.
  7. If upload tool doesn’t work for you for any reason you can contact our customer service to help you process your ID verification process.

  8. The verification process may take a few hours. After your identity is verified, you’ll receive a confirmation email.

Please make sure your documents are clear and easy to read, your photo ID is valid and complete, and your information matches that on Western Union profile. Your signature on your ID or signature page must be visible (if applicable).

In person at an agent location:
