Identity verification

Does Western Union need to confirm my identity?

All senders must verify their identity to send money online. It is mandatory to collect and verify the following info about you:
  • Full name
  • Full address in Qatar
  • Mobile phone number
  • Email address
  • Country and date of birth
  • ID details (acceptable ID documents are Qatari ID and diplomatic ID)
  • Nationality

After you register on westernunion.com or our mobile app, choose one of the following verification methods:

  • Online verification via web or app:

    After logging in to your profile, please select “Online verification” from the available options. Then you will need to take photos of the following using your phone or web camera and upload them:

    • The ID document you used to register online
    • A selfie photo following the on-screen instructions (move head up, down, left, etc)

    Once your identity is successfully verified, you will receive both email and SMS confirmations.

  • In-person verification at an agent location:

    After you have successfully registered online, you will need to visit a nearby Alfardan Exchange location. Please note that you need to bring the same government-issued ID you used to create your profile.

After your identity is verified, you can start sending money immediately.

How do I verify my identity so I can send money online?

After you have successfully registered online, you will need to verify your identity. You can choose to get verified online via web or app, or in person.

How do I verify my profile to start sending money online?

First, fill the online registration form and provide the following information: full name, full address in Qatar, phone number, email address, country and date of birth, ID card details and nationality.
  • Once you have successfully registered, please:
    1. Take a photo of your valid QID from both sides and a clear selfie video holding your QID for 3 seconds.
    2. Send both QID photos and the selfie video from your registered email to wu.support@alfardanexchange.com.qa or from your registered phone number to Al Fardan Exchange via WhatsApp to the following number:

    A representative of Al Fardan’s Exchange Customer Care will contact you to complete the verification and will send you a confirmation by email. Once you received the email, you can start using Western Union Online money transfer services right away.
