One of the most beautiful countries in the world,
Bangladesh truly captures the wonder of South Asia up close! The country is east of India and is full of amazing travel destinations from its capital, Dhaka, to its most populated city of Bogra.

Western Union (WU) has compiled five amazing travel destinations for you to experience during your trip abroad to Bangladesh.
- Lalbagh Fort
In the southwestern part of Dhaka, the Lalbagh Fort stands tall and proud, like it has since the 17
th century. While it is an incompletely built structure, it’s still quite a sight to see and consists of three distinct buildings: the Mosque, the tomb of Pari-Bibi and the Diwan-i-aam Palace. The latter is the most fascinating, featuring a small museum of Mughal artifacts and even a chance to visit the
royal bathhouse!
- Cox’s Bazar
One of the most popular tourist destinations in all of Asia, Cox’s Bazar District is surely a sight for sore eyes. At 78 miles, the Bazar’s beach is often referred to as the
longest, unbroken beach in the world! It was named after
Captain Hiram Cox, a British East India Company officer and is the perfect place to catch the sunset by the beach or hop on a boat and float down the ocean blue.
- National Parliament House
For a piece of modern history, the National Parliament House in Dhaka is the place to visit. Also called Jatiyo Sangsad Bhaban, this is one of the largest legislative buildings not just in Bangladesh, but the entire world! While certain aspects of the complex are limited to tourists, the Chadrima Uddan and Crescent Lake are open for visitors and together they form one of the most exciting features of the complex, so don’t forget to check them out!
- Dhakeshwari Temple
Also located in Dhaka is the oldest Hindu Temple in the city,
Dhakeshwari Temple. For those of you who have an interest in or follow Hinduism, this is the perfect place to visit, as many followers will flock here for worship. It has been renovated many times over the years, but still remains a wonderful place to take in and experience, regardless of your interest in its spiritual aspects.
- The Sundarbans
A mangrove forest is one that consists of shrubs and small trees along the water or coast, and the
Sundarban National Park is the largest mangrove forest in the world! The best part about this forest is that you can visit it from either India or Bangladesh, but the latter is often considered a better experience for exploring the forests up close. You might even see a Bengal tiger, or one of the 260 bird species that inhabit the area.
Wherever you go in the country of Bangladesh, you are sure to have an amazing time. Plan out your activities accordingly, so you have enough time to see all these amazing attractions. Don’t forget your camera, either! You’ll want to take a lot of photos,
