Recently, JUST Capital named Western Union to their ranking of the Top 100 U.S. Companies Supporting Healthy Communities and Families. Amidst a global pandemic that continues to affect communities globally, we’re proud to be featured on this list, which reflects our work to support the well-being of employees and communities during the pandemic and beyond.
JUST Capital is an independent nonprofit that tracks, analyzes, and engages with large corporations and their investors on how they help build an economy that works for everyone. Each year, it ranks top U.S. companies on how they invest in the health of communities and the families that inhabit them, including by providing strong employee benefits and work-life balance, investing and training their workforce, cultivating a diverse and inclusive workplace, and supporting communities.
Through advocacy, public statements and the work of its Foundation, Western Union has long been a strong advocate for financial inclusion and the value and dignity of global migrants and displaced people, but we also are a company with other strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) values. We have been recognized numerous times as an LGBTQ+-friendly workplace and a great employer for families who wish to adopt a child. Early in the COVID crisis, the Western Union Foundation stepped up with donations supporting health care and medical supplies, as well as help for students the pandemic trapped away from home. We enabled the majority of our employees to work from home and evolved our benefits to support employees affected by COVID-19, including as working caregivers. And our Diversity and Inclusion practices have been recognized by the woman-focused social networking platform Mogul.
We also put in place new programs to support our customers during the pandemic, including piloting several initiatives to ensure that customers who were unaccustomed or unable to use digital transfers could still send and receive money.
As proud as we are to add JUST Capital to the list of groups that have taken note of our leadership, we are committed to doing more. Please watch this space for our 2021 ESG Report, coming later this month. It will include additional information on how Western Union works to support our many stakeholders, as a responsible and inclusive corporate leader.
