Team_Building_03 As any successful company knows, teamwork is everything. There’s a reason people say “there’s no ‘I’ in team,” because when we work together, we can maximize our productivity and potential. Being a part of a team can be great fun, but building a powerful team is easier said than done. Fortunately, Western Union is quite familiar with team building, as we have done this successfully for over 150 years! If you’ve been tasked to assemble a powerful team of employees at work, take a look at these tips and suggestions to figure out how to do it!
  1. Lead By Example
Above all else, make sure that you set a good example for your team. Even the best teams can crumble if a fair and wise coach isn’t leading the way. If you’re in charge of your team, let them know that you are always there for them to talk or bounce ideas off of. When your team sees that their leader treats them with respect, they’ll likely do the same with each other.Team_Building_01
  1.  Set Up Weekly Meetings
Make sure that you’re not just speaking to your team, but that there is an open line of communication as well. You and your team need to have a daily, weekly or monthly meeting to go over positives and negatives. If something isn’t working, this is the time to figure out how to fix it. On the other hand, if you’ve been doing well, try to figure out why so you can keep replicating that success throughout the year!
  1. Reward Your Team
If your team has been producing and succeeding, make sure that you show them that they are appreciated. Take them out to dinner or give them the day off if it doesn’t hurt your business to do so. This will give your team the incentive to work harder because they now know that you will take care of them and reward their work ethic. On the other hand, if your team has been trying hard, yet struggling, don’t punish them. Rather, you should motivate them and try to instill positive vibes that will give them the determination to succeed in the future. Team_Building_02
  1. Monitor Your Team
Even if your team is the best in the world, always make sure to monitor and keep tabs on them. You don’t need to watch their every move, but you should make sure the team is respecting one another and working in a way that best reflects your company’s message. If there is a problem, you won’t be out of the loop and now you can fix it. If you follow these rules, you’ll not only like your team, but it will be both powerful and successful. As Western Union knows better than anyone, when we work together as a team, anything is possible. What other advice do you have for team building?
