    In Africa, for example, we work with M-PESA in Kenya, Tanzania and Mozambique.     How can I transfer money to M-PESA?

    You can choose from several different payment methods for the transfer to M-PESA. Online, the process is as follows:

    Start a money transfer.

    Enter the destination country and amount to send.

    Select “Mobile wallet” and “M-PESA” as the method for receiving the money.

    Specify your desired payment method:

      • Online, you can choose from a bank transfer, online banking, INSTANT transfer, credit1 or debit card or Google Pay.
      • If the destination country has “Pay on site” as an option, you can also pay the transfer amount in cash at a Western Union location.

    What is M-PESA?

    M-PESA is a payment system for cashless payments via mobile phones – without a bank account. The service is available in a number of countries and enables you to send and receive money using your mobile phone: users can use their M-PESA account for transfers or arrange for cash to be deposited or withdrawn via so-called M-PESA agents.

    How does the receiver receive the money when I send a money transfer to M-PESA?

    The transfer amount lands directly in the receiver’s mobile wallet1. Anyone who wants to have the money paid out in cash goes to a so-called M-PESA agent – a location that works with the payment system.
