10 Bachelor & Bachelorette Ideas for People Who Don’t Do Vegas

Global Citizen By Jenny Horowitz May 12, 2017
You’ve seen it in the movies. You’ve seen it in your Facebook feed. The clubbing, the pool parties, the mayhem. Vegas is getting overdone – and it’s not for every bride- or groom-to-be. Planning bachelor and bachelorette parties can be tough, so we’ve rounded up some alternative ideas for those of you who aren’t interested in a visit to the Strip, or just can’t imagine going back.

1. Ride dog sleds

If the bride- or groom-to-be is a dog-lover, this will make their day. Dog sledding tours are a thrilling and magical way to take in the great outdoors. Plus, it’s a great excuse to get some adorable pictures.

2. Stay at a dude ranch

Forgo those expensive, tourist-heavy resorts for a down-to-earth dude ranch. Depending on where you go, you’ll have the opportunity to ride horses, fly fish, and even try some cattle work like a true rancher!

3. Race extreme go-karts or luxury cars

Feeling the need for speed? Indulge your inner racecar driver with a trip to the tracks. There are some pretty extreme go-kart tracks available around the country and, depending on your budget, you can even rent some of the world’s most exotic cars to race at a track near you.

4. Road trip somewhere new

Have you and your friends always talked about going on a road trip? Now’s the perfect time to make it happen. Rent a car or RV and let the road introduce you to adventures and hidden destinations off the beaten path.

5. Kite surf in the snow

Similar to wind surfing, kite surfing is an adventure sport where riders coast on a modified board while holding a specially-designed kite. Sound epic? It’s even better in the snow.

6. Tour a brewery or winery

Brewery and winery tours are great ways to make new memories, discover a new favorite drink, and get a taste of culture. Consider yourself a big beer or wine enthusiast? We have the perfect pilgrimages just for you. Click here for beer-themed travel ideas and here for wine tour inspiration.

7. Dip into a hot spring

Whether you opt for a wellness trip or hiking adventure, try checking out a natural hot spring for a revitalizing experience. It’s more natural than a spa, but just as relaxing. Plus, you can get some epic pics for the ‘gram.

8. Travel on a vintage train

There’s nothing like a steam train trip down memory lane. This luxurious blast from the past will expose you to gorgeous scenery with a dose of nostalgia you just can’t get from a car window.

9. Charter a river boat or yacht

This is a pretty baller move. Just make sure the honoree isn’t susceptible to motion sickness! From private river booze cruises to Yacht Week sailing festivals, the nautical possibilities are endless.

10. Bungee jump or skydive

The only leap bigger than marriage is the leap off a bridge, cliff, or airplane. Bungee-jumping or sky-diving is ideal for the adrenaline junkie and a once-in-a-lifetime experience the entire group will never forget.
