Send money in person
The Western Union Money Transfer service is used by anyone who needs to send or receive money quickly. These include people supporting friends or relatives abroad, travelers and business people who need to make fast, international remittances.
Western Union agent locations are independent businesses that provide money transfer services to their customers via Western Union’s platform.
Western Union agent locations in Hong Kong offer the ability to send and receive money around the world using cash.
You will need to go to one of Western Union’s agent locations and complete a "To Send Money" form, then pay the agent the amount you want to send, plus fees***, in cash. The agent will immediately process the transaction.
To pick up money, the receiver will need to complete a "To Receive Money" form at any Western Union agent location and provide proper identification documents. The agent then pays the transfer amount to the receiver.
*** Western Union also makes money from currency exchange. When choosing a money transmitter, carefully compare both transfer fees and exchange rates. Fees and foreign exchange rates may vary by brand, channel, and location based on a number of factors. Fees and rates subject to change without notice. Subject to applicable taxes (if any).
You can usually send any amount. However, for certain amounts, transfers and destination countries, you may be subject to limitation or additional security and asked to provide additional information or documentation.

Generally, we pay cash to your receiver. But, in some cases, payment may be made by cheque, or a combination of cash and cheque and in some locations directly to a bank account or mobile wallet. In some countries, receivers have a choice of how to pick up their funds.

Any time after the money has been sent, you can check your transfer status online. All you need is your name and the tracking number (MTCN) printed on your receipt.

You can pick up your money at any agent location. You'll need to complete a "To Receive Money" form with the following information:
- Amount expected
- Sender's name
- Sender's city and country
- MTCN (money transfer control number)
Acceptable ID documents are also required.

Primary identification verifying the full name (government issued identification document, etc.) and one form of non-primary identification verifying the current or permanent address (e.g. utility bill, a letter from a hostel manager confirming temporary residence).
Each Western Union agent location determines its own hours of operation. Some have extended hours and some even stay open 24 hours.
