Make Your Money Travel to the End of the World Quickly with Western Union and Wiko

Need to send money quickly to a loved one at the other end of the world?

Western Union and Wiko are breaking down borders and allowing consumers to transfer money to almost anywhere in the world from their mobile devices with just a few clicks and at low prices.

PARIS, 25 September 2017 – The Western Union Company, a leader in global payment services, and Wiko, the French mobile company, have entered into an agreement to pre-install Western Union’s money transfer app in all new Wiko smartphones. They will combine the best of mobile and access to one of the most important money transfer networks in the world.

The Western Union app, pre-installed in all new Wiko handsets since July 20171, will provide direct access to one of the most powerful physical and digital money transfer networks in the world, connecting more than 200 countries and territories and 130+ payment currencies.

To use this new service, nothing could be simpler! The user creates a  profile in just a few clicks via the Western Union app and can send money quickly, easily and reliably around the world, while choosing the payment method that suits him best. By purchasing a Wiko smartphone with the Western Union app, the user's first three transactions will be offered at a promotional price.

“Western Union is constantly evolving to provide a technological response to the changing habits of its consumers”, said Grégory Laurent, Country Director, France at Western Union.

“With this ambitious new collaboration, Western Union wants to go even further and project itself into the everyday life of its consumers, who are increasingly mobile, connected and in need of instantaneous, easily accessible services. We share common values with Wiko, and seek to go beyond the objective of ‘mobile’ and replace it with experience in line with the expectations of our consumers,” Laurent concluded.

With this alliance, Western Union and Wiko want to enable access to and facilitate cross border money transfers to the greatest number of people. This collaboration will be deployed initially in the French market and may be developed in a number of other countries where Wiko smartphones are distributed in due course.

“The goal of Wiko has always been to enable access to mobile for consumers around the world”, said Rodolphe Roux, Wiko’s Digital Director.

“It is only natural for us to partner with a global player such as Western Union to facilitate mobile finance, initially in France and internationally very quickly.”

This collaboration will be deployed initially in the French market and may be developed in many other countries where Wiko smartphones are distributed in due course.
