Regional News By Karen Santos Apr 29, 2019

PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA, APRIL 29, 2019— Digital international money transfers have been introduced for the first time for more than one million Wing Money App customers in Cambodia, thanks to a collaboration between Western Union, a leader in cross-border, cross-currency money movement and Wing (Cambodia) Limited Specialised Bank, a leading mobile banking services provider.

With a few clicks, Wing Money App customers — whether they are international or domestic expatriates or workers — can now send Western Union® money transfers to family and loved ones, 24/7, to more than 200 countries and territories. They can choose to fund the transaction by topping up the wallet in cash at Wing locations or by pulling funds from their bank accounts in case its available on Wing Wallet.

“Western Union’s platform enables us to power cross-border money movement solutions on a global scale. With our deep financial services expertise and technology to connect the digital and physical worlds of money, we are empowering consumers with solutions that meet their financial needs with speed and ease,” said Sohini Rajola, Western Union Global Money Transfer Regional Vice President, South Asia and Indo-China.

“We recognize that remittances are an important source of income both for families living in Cambodia and for migrants and foreign workers’ families living abroad. We are excited to expand our collaboration with Wing now to offer customers digital money transfer options to move money the way they want, and play a critical role in their lives and in the global economy,” Rajola said.

Last year, Wing and Western Union announced a collaboration that enabled customers in Cambodia to receive money at 50 Wing locations across the country. This year, the service was rolled out to approximately 1,000 Wing locations.

“Today, with the activation of Western Union service on our mobile app, we are delighted to take our collaboration to the next level, enabling migrants and foreign workers to conveniently transfer money to their families and loved ones back home with just a few clicks,” said Jojo Malolos, Wing Chief Executive Officer, “Our commitment to customers is unwavering, and we won’t stop here. We plan to continue to rollout and further extend our capabilities to provide convenient experiences for customers.”

In addition to money transfer services, customers can also use the Wing Money App to pay bills, top up phone or shop online.
