On Friday October 5th, Elizabeth Roscoe, Executive Director of the WU Foundation, joined FiSCA Conference panelists in Las Vegas, to discuss “doing good in the neighborhood”.

The WU Foundation’s mission is to help underserved communities connect to the economy through education. Elizabeth shared insights with an audience interested to learn how organizations build and grow local community service programs and how the Foundation’s collaboration with Western Union Agents is core to program success. When an Agent donates to a program that offers vocational education, workforce enablement, or entrepreneurship programs, matching the Foundation’s mission, the Foundation will match their contribution enabling dollars and impact to go farther. Elizabeth was proud to unveil a new Agent collaboration with

Elizabeth was joined on the panel by: Lisa Henken of Netspend, Robert Sherrill of Imperial Cleaning Systems , and Matthew Kurtzman, of  Back 2 School Illinois, whom the WU Foundation has supported since 2010, providing school supply kits for underprivileged children.

Agents have also participated in the WU [+YOU] Scholars program, an opportunity to provide scholarships to young people in the communities where their customers live. For example, Aristides from El Salvador is studying at New York University, thanks to the generosity of Pay-O-Matic, working to achieve his goal of becoming a pediatric surgeon supporting low-income communities.
