How To Send

We know that you have money that you need to send, which is why we make it possible to do so 24/7 on Westernunion.com! There are many different ways you can send money with Western Union: online, in-person, by phone, or on our mobile app.

Online: Send money from the comfort of your own home with WesternUnion.com or the mobile app. After you register for a free account or log in to your profile, you can use a wide variety of services to complete your transactions. You can pay with your bank account or a credit2 or debit card that allows you to send money to another bank account, an agent location, or even a mobile phone. We’ll send you a confirmation e-mail or a tracking number, so you can make sure your money is getting where it needs to go.

By phone: Not home? No problem! Just pick up your phone and dial our toll-free number. Our Western Union representatives will be there to walk you through the rest. All you’ll need is a credit2 or debit card, and we’ll get you started on sending your money to over 200 countries and territories worldwide!

In-Person: Why not do things the old-fashioned way and walk into one of our more than 500,000 agent locations worldwide? While you’re still able to send money in minutes1, or money to a mobile phone or bank account, you can also use next-day1 service. This feature allows money to be picked up in cash or by prepaid card at participating agent locations.

How To Receive

Whether you’re receiving the money for yourself or helping a family member, here’s how you can receive the gift that another loved one shared. Before anything else, ask your sender which delivery method they used. If they sent cash, visit an agent location, but bring two things with you: a government-issued ID and the tracking number (called an MTCN or Money Transfer Control Number) from the sender. If they loaded the money onto a prepaid card, call the number on the back of the prepaid card or log in to your account to see what funds are available.

You can also check the status of your money transfer via our global track a transfer service.

You can also receive the money in your bank account or as a mobile wallet deposit; however, these options are not always available. Ask a Western Union representative or check out our website to determine if these options will work for you!

Whether online or on your mobile app, we make it easy for you to share the gift of money whenever you need. Have any other questions on how to send or receive money? Tweet us at @WesternUnion.
