Last year, the New York Times rated Mexico City the top destination to visit in 2016. With an abundance of street art, over 150 museums, and exciting new restaurants, there’s something for everyone! We’ve analyzed hashtag data to find the perfect spots for your Insta-feed.

1. Teotihuacan 

Number of Hashtags: 297,948

Home to the third largest pyramid in the world, Teotihuacan is bound to take your followers’ breath away. The view is worth all 248 steps it takes to reach the top of the Pyramid of the Sun.

2. Chapultepec

The largest city park in Mexico, Chapultepec provides Instagram opportunity around every corner. Stop by the Castle of Chapultepec for a classic shot by the stairs.

 3. Coyoacán

Coyoacán is known as the historic center of Mexico. Walk through the Mercado de Coyoacán for some unique pics of this Mexican market – plus some #eeeeats!

4. Condesa

The Condesa area is filled with enchanting art deco architecture. Play with different angles or a vertical panoramic of the Edificio San Martin building to get some scroll-stopping shots.

5. Zocalo 

Number of Hashtags: 201,016

Also known as the Plaza de la Constitución, this public plaza in the heart of the city is a great spot to snap some action footage of local performers, like a Boomerang of one of the dancers.

6. Xochimilco 

Number of Hashtags: 187,842

Considered the Venice of Mexico, people visit Xochimilco to ride colorful boats (called “trajineras“) around its’ 110 miles of canals. Frame your photo with multiple boats to capture more color.

7. Soumaya 

Number of Hashtags: 91,423

 Designed by famed Mexican architect Fernando Romero, this museum is known as one of the most photogenic structures in Mexico City. Visit at night to see how the moonlight reflects off the tiles.

8. Palacio de Bellas Artes

Number of Hashtags: 71,547

Regarded as an important cultural center in Mexico City, the Palacio de Bellas Artes is beautiful both inside and out. Try upping the contrast to really make the Palace pop.

Pro tip: The Sears Café across the street offers a near perfect view.

9. Torre Latinoamericana

The Torre Latinoamericana has 44 stories and one amazing view of Mexico City! Include the Sierra de Guadalupe mountain range in the background for added texture.

Honorable Mention
