Western Union, our customers, employees and Agents are proud of the difference that we can make by supporting the dreams and opportunities of migrants, those who are displaced, and those who have a desire to succeed but need assistance along the way.
With that purpose in mind, we recently launched an in-app donation feature that allows our U.S. customers to donate to the Western Union Foundation during their transaction by simply clicking ‘donate to the WU Foundation’ before completing the money transfer.
Additionally, as we approach the year end giving season and International Migrants Day on Dec. 18, Western Union and the Western Union Foundation have teamed up to support the American Red Cross Restoring Family Links initiative, to help reconnect family members who have been separated by crisis, conflict or migration.
From Dec. 15, 2019 – Jan. 15, 2020, 100 percent of in-app donations made to the Western Union Foundation through the Western Union® app will go to the American Red Cross Restoring Family Links initiative. In addition, for every donation received during this window, the Foundation will also donate $10* to the initiative.
“The work we do through the Restoring Family Links program would not be possible without donors like The Western Union Foundation. We are grateful to have a partner that shares our mission of connecting loved ones,” said Gino Greco, Regional Chief Executive Officer of Colorado and Wyoming at The Red Cross. “We are proud to work alongside the Western Union Foundation in celebration of International Migrants Day and look forward to uniting more families.”
Western Union understands that when people move, opportunities follow. At our core, we are a network that connects people. By fostering those connections together with the American Red Cross Restoring Family Links initiative we are supporting families, building communities and growing the world economy.
Western Union and the Western Union Foundation have a long history of supporting organizations and issues related to migration, refugees and humanitarian crisis.
