WILMINGTON, Del.—January 23, 2008—eBillme has announced that it has renewed the search for secret shoppers, those consumers who make purchases and then hide them from friends, family members, and significant others. The eBillme Shopping Confessions Contest has been re-launched for 2008 and is now accepting new submissions at the official contest website, www.shopandconfess.com. Shoppers can confess their secret purchases in a YouTube video, or a written story submission.
Each month, the best video confessions will win $1,000, and the best written confession will win $500. Additionally, for select special occasions and holidays, eBillme will introduce themed prizes which contestants will also be eligible for. The first themed submission is for Valentine’s Day. Contestants who submits confessions specifically revealing the best, or even the worst, Valentine’s Day purchases they have given or received, by February 14th, will be eligible to win a 37-inch Toshiba LCD HDTV in addition to the standard monthly winnings.
“The first Secret Shopping Confessions contest was so successful, we didn’t want to see it end,” says Marwan Forzley, President and CEO of eBillme. “The judges, the public, and the press had such fun seeing how far people will go to keep their shopping secrets, we decided to keep the creativity flowing throughout 2008. There is more money and prizes up for grabs for those who wow us with their secret shopping confessions.”
Maybe it was a guilty pleasure, like a designer handbag or a high-tech mobile phone. It could be a heartwarming purchase, such as diamond jewelry for an anniversary surprise. Or in the case of last year’s $20,000 grand prize winner, Natalie Kroc, maybe it’s an HDTV that was part of a master plan to get her fiancé to spring for a ring and propose (finally!) after seven years.
Every month for 12 months, eBillme will review the Shopping Confession YouTube videos and short stories entered to the contest Web site, www.shopandconfess.com. At the end of each month, eBillme will select the best video for the $1,000 prize, and best story for the $500 prize. And, during select months, eBillme will give contestants an opportunity to win even more by offering prizes for specific themed confessions like the current Valentine’s Day prize. The winning entries will be showcased on eBillme’s Shopping Confessions Web site. Winning videos will also appear on YouTube™ Shopping Confessions™ group or the FaceBook™ Shopping Confessions™ group.
To qualify, participants must create a short video or short story of their shopping confession. Participants can upload their entries to eBillme’s YouTube Shopping Confessions channel or its Facebook Shopping Confessions group, and complete the contest entry form at the Shop and Confess Web site. Short stories must be submitted electronically to www.shopandconfess.com.
Submissions should reveal what the contestant bought, where they bought it, why they bought it, who they bought it for, why they kept it a secret, how they kept it secret, and how their secret was revealed (or when it will be). The confessions will judged on a number of criteria, including creativity, originality, and entertainment.
The contest will close on the last day of each calendar month, at 12 midnight EST for contestants to be considered for that month’s prize. Winners will be contacted and announced the first week of the following month. Participation is open to all residents of the U.S. and Canada. Contestants can submit multiple entries.
