What is WU® Pay?

WU® Pay is an online payment option from Western Union. Look for the logo when you check out. When you choose WU Pay, we'll email you a bill that you'll pay using your online bank account. After we receive your payment, we'll process it and notify you by email when it's complete.


How does WU Pay money transfer work?

After selecting WU Pay to fund your money transfer, you will receive a bill via email.

  1. Log in to your bank's website and go to the bill pay section.
  2. Follow the instructions found in your bill to add WU Pay as a payee the same way you add other billers for online banking.
  3. Pay the amount listed on your bill.
  4. You will receive a confirmation email from Western Union within 1-3 days, letting you know that your money transfer is paid for and ready for your receiver to pick up.

First-time WU Pay customers may need to speak with a WU Pay specialist to complete the funding process. If you haven't received the confirmation email after a few days, please check for an email with the subject "Your WU Pay payment requires your authorization".


How soon will my WU Pay money transfer be available?

Once you pay the bill, your bank will send your payment to WU Pay. This normally takes 1-2 business days. If your bank sent the funds by check, it may take a few extra days for WU Pay to receive it. Once completed, you'll get a confirmation email from Western Union telling you the money transfer is ready for your receiver to pick up.
